Keith Norris, MD
Dr. Keith Norris is Professor of Medicine at Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles and the principal investigator for the Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI) Translational Research Network. He also serves as Associate Dean for Translational Science at the Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA.
Dr. Norris attended Cornell University, and received his medical degree from Howard University in Washington, DC, where he completed a residency in internal medicine and was Chief Resident. He was a Research Fellow in Nephrology in the Department of Medicine of the Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and Wadsworth Veterans Administration Hospital in West Los Angeles. Currently, he is a postdoctoral candidate in metaphysics, spirituality, and holistic health.
A Paterson, New Jersey native who was reared in Jamaica Queens, New York, Dr. Norris has always loved science and math. He felt the best way to merge his two loves was to go into medicine. In medical school, he developed his interest in the functioning of the kidneys.
Determining how much water and salt the kidney would retain offered numerous opportunities to combine math and science. Working in this area, has allowed Dr. Norris to address health issues that are extremely important to the communities like those in which he grew up.
Board certified by the American Boards of Internal Medicine and Nephrology, Dr. Norris is also certified as a Specialist in Clinical Hypertension by the American Society of Hypertension.
